Saturn is one of the most important planets in the solar system. There are seven known planets in the solar system, i.e. Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn. Saturn has a separate and special importance in astrology. It has its own personality. It is called Jauhal in Arabic, Ked wan in Persian and in Sanskrit it is called Shani or Shanishchar (slow mover).The Markendeya Puran states that Shani is the son of Sun and his wife Chaaya (shadow).
In Indian astrology, Shani is considered most dreaded planets because seven and half years called Sadesati in North India and "Elinatishani" in South India, when Saturn supposedly creates havoc in a person's life. Saturn takes two and half year in one sign, thus in the time of seven and half year it moves in three signs.
