Sun
Sun

The sun is the most important entity in the solar system. The earth moves around the sun in 365 days and around its own axis within 24 hours. In this movement the sun looks up to six months at North Pole and the other six month at South Pole. This is also called as ‘uttrayan’ and ‘dakshinayan’. This also causes the change in temperatures of the earth at any particular place. This leads to the change in seasons. In India, there are four seasons viz. summer, monsoon, autumn and winter - each having four months.

In Greek mythology the sun was personified as Helios . Homer often calls him simply Titan or Hyperion.
Helios was imagined as a handsome god crowned with the shining aureole of the sun, driving the chariot of the sun across the sky each day to earth-circling Oceanus and through the world-ocean returning towards the East at night. Homer describes Helios's chariot as drawn by solar bulls, later Pindar describes it as drawn by "fire spewing steeds". As time passed, Helios was increasingly identified with the god of light, Apollo.

As far as Indian mythology is concerned, the sun is also called ‘Paap Griha’ in the astrological system. It is a male planet. It is ‘Tejaswi’ and ‘Ahankari’ by nature. It is strongest in seventh house from Lagna. The sun is the Lord of the eastern direction and is also red-colored.

From the astrological point of view, the sun has been defined as the lord of Leo, and it is the soul of ‘Kal-Purusha’ in astrology. Again, the sun is the lord of bones .it attains the highest stage at the 10th degree of Aries and in the lowest position at the 10th degree of Libra and in “Mool -trikon” within 1 to 20 degree of Leo.

Friendly planets for Sun Moon, Mars, Jupiter
Equal or neutral planets for Sun Mercury
Enemy planets for Sun Saturn & Venus

Vision – The sun is called “swagrihi” in Leo from 20 to 30 degree.

It is the symbol of soul, nature, health, state and temples etc. This planet decides the condition of a person’s father. It is ‘Bali’ in 10th house from Lagna and ‘chestabali’ at the 6th rashi from the Capricorn .Raphael and others astrologers are of the view that sun is used for the prediction of right eye of male and left eye of female .

So, the Sun is the key planet in the solar system and astrology. Actually the sun is a stationary body. The sun’s displacement is measured and written in the almanac. In the spiritual realm, the sun planet is a ‘devta’ (Demy God) and the person offers ‘Arghya or water to him after taking holy bath in holy rivers in morning or evening.

In the modern era, we know of something called the spectrum-science. Every living body gets energy from the sun. In ancient times, ‘Vishwamitra’ the great saint had declared that every substance of this world may be constituted and transformed by the sun .Now, in the Atharvaveda there are 48 ‘Richas’ which give us detailed knowledge about the sun and by this knowledge, matter can be changed from one form to another . In the Puranas, the sun is the rider of seven horses .The seven wives of sun have also been mentioned and every wife is quite different in nature .According to the scientists, there are seven parts of the sun rays that are called VIBGYOR or violet, indigo, blue, green .yellow, orange and red.

We may see in the Vedas and Purana about the seven rays (horses) of the sun and each of these rays has twenty-one types of atoms. Actually, these seven rays emanate from special types of elements resulting in different colors. This difference in refractive index causes the different colors. Modern science has invented 113 elements up till now.It has been mentioned in our ancient literature that if any special ray of the sun is being penetrated from different angle then there will be transformation of elements just like Plutonium from Uranium.

If we see our old literature, we find that in the ‘Sri-Sukta’ this procedure has been dealt with in highly esoteric imagery. Lord Shiva is the main originator of this science and technology who was named as ‘Rudra’ in Vedic period. We can find details of the sun in ‘Rudra-Yamala’. Again Ashwani Kumar made the explanations for changing one element into another element in the book ‘Surya –Vigyan’.

The guru of the devas, Vrihaspati wrote a book called “Surya Tantram” in which he told Kubera that he had learned this knowledge from Lord Shiva and he became “Koshadhyaksha” (treasurer) of devas by this science.

Again, Lord Shiva gave this science to ‘Virbhadra’ who was his prime pupil. Virbhadra had written the book “Surya-Tantram”. In this science, the ‘Rechan’ or concentration of the sunrays through a special angle on a substance had been dealt with in detail. Again this science is related by Sukracharya, the famous book ‘Surya-Siddhanta.’

Indra, the king of devas‘s book ‘Kalp-Shiromani’ is kept in Nepal’s library today. Here Kalp means to transform. This concept had been spread out in public that wishing under the ‘Kalp- Taru’ (wishing tree) had fulfilled all types of wishes but in reality this was possible due the book ‘Kalp-Shiromani’ and it was the sun -science. He was also the user of ‘Kaam –Dhenu’ (cow who full fills all the wishes). Here Dhenu means the sun rays. Vishamitra, Vashitha, Bhrigu were also the scientist of ‘Kaam -Dhenu’ science. Rishi Parasuram had written book ‘Swarna-Tantra’ which is available today and any one can read it for more chemical knowledge about sun rays.

In the modern period Mr. Haridatta Sharma of Punjab made gold and silver from wood on 12.-9-1936 in front of Madan Mohan Malviya and Jugal Kishore Birla. This conclusively proved that matter can be transformed by the sun’s rays from one material to another. Though this science is not believable today, it had been mastered by the ancient scientists and these books were destroyed by invaders.

Thus, the sun rays play a very important role in this universe. There is great spiritual importance accorded to the sun. The ‘offering of water’ to the sun after bathing is the medicinal part of the spirituality and when sun passes through Capricorn, it is called “Makar Sankranti.” This day is important if one wishes to take a dip in the holy confluence of the river Ganga, Yamuna and the hidden Saraswati.
